He began his athletic career an impressive 40 pounds overweight. His best subject in school was lunch (it showed) but at the age of 16, he stood at six feet seven inches. As they say in basketball, you can’t teach height. He finally crossed the finish line on that first day of basketball practice and the coach told him “Stephen…that was the slowest mile I have ever seen anyone run!”
He didn’t give up. He took 3 steps that empowered him to go from an average athlete and student, to performing in the top 1% in everything he attempted.
Steps that:
- Empowered him to become the first and last member of the men’s basketball team at DePaul University to be named First Team Academic All-American.
- Equipped him as a senior to earn the prestigious Anson Mount Scholar-Athlete Award which is given annually to the nation’s premier scholar-athlete.
- Earned him the opportunity to play four years in the NBA for the Seattle Supersonics, San Antonio Spurs, and the Utah Jazz, including the 1996-1997 Jazz team that went to the NBA Finals against Michael Jordan and the Bulls.
- Took him after the NBA, to 12 different countries including France, Spain, China, and Israel immersing himself in the unique cultures of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
- Gave him the opportunity to join ESPN as a college basketball analyst and FOX Sports as the studio analyst for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans.
- Empowered him to continue his evolution as a leader by pursuing and achieving a Master’s in Organizational Leadership in Administration.
- Inspired him to create the Leadership Syndicate™, an organization dedicated to elite leadership mastery.
Today, he teaches this powerful 3 step system to individuals and organizations worldwide. Steps that underlie every great win, without exception, of every leader, champion, and performer who made it to the top and made history. Steps that will show leaders how to lead their teams to the heights of success and inspire, impact, and change the world.
