Billy Tuchscher is an entrepreneur, investor, brand builder, and keynote speaker whose career spans real estate, media, entertainment, technology, philanthropy, and the future of skate culture.

He currently serves as CEO of the Skateboarding Hall of Fame, LLC and CEO of Alva Skate & Surf, where he is leading the next phase of growth for one of the most iconic brands in action sports. Best known in media circles for his involvement in the ownership of Rolling Stone, its intellectual property, trademarks, and digital domains, Tuchscher has spent his career at the intersection of culture and commerce.

His holdings and ventures have included large digital music catalogs, music licensing for Fortune 500 advertising, patented audio technology, entertainment projects, and music artist representation at the dawn of social media monetization.

Before building in media and entertainment, Tuchscher developed a major track record in large-scale real estate and destination development, with projects that included master-planned communities, resorts, marinas, golf courses, hotels, office product, and mixed-use environments representing billions in build-out value. His portfolio has included landmark projects such as the US Grant Hotel, Kona Kai Resort & Marina, Playacar in Cancun, The Otay Ranch, The Pointe, Crystal Bay, and Escena Golf Resort Community.

Tuchscher has also been an early mover in trend shifts. In 2008, he entered the emerging creator economy by building the first Facebook monetization company and signing major musicians, actors, and athletes to representation. He later backed the award-winning film Another Harvest Moon and helped conceive RockDome, a large-scale multimedia concert venue developed with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, top music executives, and director-producer McG, which later manifested into the Sphere.

During the COVID transition, Tuchscher moved decisively to the sidelines ahead of disruption, then reentered the live entertainment space by launching Lifest Music City, an early post-pandemic music festival held at Johnny Cash’s Hideaway Farm in Nashville. That same pattern — seeing where culture and consumer behavior are going before others do — now defines his work in skateboarding.

At Alva Skate & Surf, Tuchscher has partnered with skateboarding legend Tony Alva to modernize a heritage brand founded in 1977 while protecting the authenticity that made it iconic. His strategy is built around translating the original California surf-skate ethos for Gen Z and Gen Alpha through creator-driven storytelling, social-first brand building, professional content systems, and a business model that treats its athletes as real partners in value creation rather than disposable endorsers. Under his leadership, Alva is developing new ways to connect heritage, influence, community, and commerce for the next generation of riders and fans.

A featured speaker at more than 50 conferences and a former civic and institutional leader, Tuchscher has served on the Board of Directors of the University of San Diego, chaired the Urban Land Institute, led both a City Planning Commission and City Economic Development Commission, and founded the 2,500-acre San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge. His philanthropic work has included support for organizations such as the YMCA, Red Cross, John Varvatos Stuart House, The Black Eyed Peas Pea Pod Foundation, and multiple artist-led foundations, and he received a U.N. Philanthropic Leader Award in 2019.

As a speaker, Tuchscher is known for connecting big ideas to real pop-culture execution. He speaks on brand reinvention, media convergence, creator monetization, innovation, legacy business transformation, cultural authenticity, philanthropy, and how iconic brands can win with younger generations without selling out. An avid surfer, sailor, and skateboarder, he brings both boardroom experience and lived connection to the cultures he helps shape.
