Informally trained in the dance clubs of New York City, Perez choreographed the iconic Fly Girls on TV’s sketch comedy series “In Living Color” and for music videos for Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, and LL Cool J, among many others. Most recently, she has been seen in “Your Honor”, DC’s “Birds of Prey”, “The Flight Attendant”, and Apple TV+’s “Before” with Billy Crystal.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Perez is a proud Puerto Rican and long-time advocate for health equity, arts education, and social justice. In 2010, she was appointed by President Barack Obama to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.
She is the author of “Handbook for an Unpredictable Life”, a memoir chronicling her turbulent upbringing, her life in foster care, and resilient journey to entertainment. Perez is also a lifelong boxing fan and served as an official commentator for Netflix’s Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul broadcast.
