Jeff Yang is a bestselling author, widely renowned cultural expert and veteran strategy and communications professional whose career in media, marketing and technology has spanned three decades, and included multiple successful media and marketing startups. He was the founder of A. Magazine: Inside Asian America, which grew into Asian America’s largest and most influential English-language media institution, and of aOnline.com, one of the first Asian American content and community sites on the web.

As a journalist, he is widely recognized as one of the most influential Asian American cultural observers, as a regular contributor on CNN, and a former columnist for the Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle and Village Voice. A much sought after researcher and consultant, Yang is currently Senior Advisor for Narrative and Digital Intelligence for the Pop .Culture Collaborative, a $50 million multi-foundation initiative to fund and amplify the use of pop culture for social change. Prior to that, he ran the Digital Intelligence Lab for the Institute for the Future; was Head of Global Futures at sparks & honey, an Omnicom consultancy focused on helping brands and businesses track and align with the real-time flow of global culture; was senior vice president at The Futures Company, a subsidiary of WPP, and VP and principal global strategist at Iconoculture, now a Gartner subsidiary, where he directed the company’s research activities in Greater China, Japan and Korea. His research focus includes the convergence of global cultures, the social impact of technology, and the shifting nature of identity, both on and offline.
